who we are
Howdy!
Our names are Lauren and Richard and we are proudly based in the Appalachian mountains of Eastern Kentucky. We are homesteaders, community growers, small farmers, experiential educators, and folkway practitioners. We are here to be co-conspirators in loving the land and nurturing connection to cultural and natural wisdom.
Our land tending practice includes shepherding with a rotational grazing model and regenerative agriculture with a focus on agroforestry approaches (primarily forest farming and silvopasture). We teach workshops on these and other areas and are in the process of developing new land in Estill County for gatherings and events.
Lauren is a poet, ecotherapist, and practitioner of folk herbalism. She hopes to take up spinning wool from her Shetland sheep this year. Richard is a shepherd and chef informed by intercultural and traditional foodways. Sula is a dog who loves sticks, humans, and adventure.
